About the Artist

Pamela Herbst is a painter and graphic designer living in Stony Brook, NY.  Pam’s education includes studying art and architecture at Rhode Island School of Design, and graphic design at Long Island University/Southampton. She enjoyed a 25 year-long position as graphic designer for LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, creating exhibit guides, event invitations, Newsletters and Student Annual artwork catalogs.

She currently works at The Reboli Center for Art and History in Stony Brook as an assistant gallery coordinator.

In addition, Pam continues designing exhibit and travel catalogs for WACH: Women's Art Center of the Hamptons.

She loves the variety in her career, and brings her life-long passion for Art and Design to these unique organizations.

Pam continues painting, and her oil paintings are ‘focused moments in time - encapsulating feelings of being there'. They often include architectural elements nestled in the natural environment. In addition to painting, she designs cards and objects with her original art.

CAREER

Pam's design career has been shaped and nurtured by a variety of work experiences. In 1993 she began working in the advertising and production department at The East Hampton Star newspaper.  After two years, she left and joined Arielstudio in Southampton. There she was mentored by the founder Ariel Peeri, a innovative graphic designer and brand expansion strategist. The company was well-connected to corporate Manhattan and designed for companies such as Time Inc., Disney and AOL.

In 1995, she began designing for LongHouse Reserve (a 16-acre integrated environment created by artist, collector, textile designer and weaver Jack Lenor Larsen. The sculpture garden features more than 60 outdoor works, including permanent collection works by Buckminster Fuller, Dale Chihuly, Yoko Ono, Willem de Kooning, and Sui Jinguao).

In 1999, while continuing to design for LongHouse, Pam established Artist Graphic Design, her own business, creating logos, design and promotions for a variety of businesses.

In 2018 she joined the Reboli Center for Art & History in Stony Brook NY, where she currently assists with fundraising, programs, educating visitors, and coordinating with artists. She collaborates with a dedicated team to educate and connect the community and helps support the Reboli Center mission of “providing artistic and historical programs, presenting the work of contemporary artists and artisans and providing public access to Joseph Reboli’s work.”

2023 marks 30 years as a graphic designer – and most recently, she designed the logo and branding for a non-profit Art organization: WACH: Women's Art Center of the Hamptons.  Pam is excited to help them grow and assist to promote their mission; “The Women’s Art Center of the Hamptons supports and elevates women thinkers and makers through educational initiatives, community programs, exhibitions and events for the enjoyment and enrichment of the human spirit with accessibility for all.”

Pam has been inspired by many artists, directors, and designers she has met through her varied experiences.  She continues her journey in the arts by painting, designing, and supporting our Art community.
